Details

A framed canvas print edition translated from Roots of Joy (2025), shaped by layered colour, organic form, and structural tension.

Translation

Derived from Roots of Joy, 2025.
The fragment was selected for its relationship between movement, containment, and surrounding space. Colour and form appear to grow, shift, and settle within the composition, allowing the print to remain connected to the original painting while standing as an independent edition.

Studio Editor's Note

Released as an open edition, this work remains available as part of an ongoing translation of the original painting into printed form.

Studio Notes
This print forms part of an ongoing translation practice within The Colour Nest, where original abstract paintings are not reproduced, but carefully extracted. Fragments are selected to preserve internal pressure, material tension, and spatial relationships present in the original work, while resisting narrative completeness. Scale, surface, and proportion are treated as compositional decisions rather than production variables. The canvas format reinforces the work's presence as an object, allowing the fragment to exist independently while remaining structurally linked to its origin.

From the Practice

The Colour Nest brings abstract painting into physical space.

Original works on canvas are translated into print editions and objects through a considered process shaped by material, restraint, and structure. Each piece remains grounded in the logic of the original work.

The intention is not to stylise everyday life, but to allow art to exist within it on its own terms.
