Foundational work
In this work, colour operates as structure rather than expression. It does not decorate the surface or illustrate emotion; it carries weight, establishes tension, and directs movement across the composition.
Yellow is not optimistic here. It functions as a centre of gravity, a dense, warm core around which the rest of the painting is organised. White areas are not empty; they act as pauses, holding rhythm and allowing the composition to breathe. Blue introduces distance and depth, preventing the surface from collapsing into softness. Black defines edges and pressure points, keeping the forms contained.
There is no narrative, but there is order. What appears fluid is carefully controlled. Lines fold, press, and hold one another in place. The painting does not describe feeling; it constructs proximity, resistance, and connection through form.
This work is not decorative. It shapes the space it occupies.
