Printed Edition - Framed

A framed canvas print edition translated from Roots of Joy, an original abstract painting by The Colour Nest.

Roots of Joy is built through layered colour, softened contours, and a shifting relationship between structure and movement. The painting holds a tension between organic form and an external framework, in which bright passages of colour appear contained, released, and redirected across the surface.

This selected fragment focuses on an area of colour, rhythm, and spatial tension. Printed on canvas and presented in a black frame, the edition allows that passage to exist as an independent work while remaining structurally linked to the original painting.

Translation

Derived from Roots of Joy. The fragment was selected for its layered colour, organic movement, and the quiet architecture of the painting's forms. Surrounding information has been reduced so the work can exist autonomously, without describing the painting as a whole.

Studio Editor's Note

This print forms part of an ongoing translation practice within The Colour Nest, where original abstract paintings are not reproduced, but carefully extracted. Fragments are selected to preserve internal pressure, material tension, and spatial relationships present in the original work, while resisting narrative completeness.

This print forms part of an ongoing translation practice within The Colour Nest, where original abstract paintings are not reproduced, but carefully extracted. Fragments are selected to preserve internal pressure, material tension, and spatial relationships present in the original work, while resisting narrative completeness. Scale, surface, and proportion are treated as compositional decisions rather than production variables. The canvas format reinforces the work's presence as an object, allowing the fragment to exist independently while remaining structurally linked to its origin.
